Introducing Folc & Port Tanger

Atelier Mira is excited to share two new and amazing brands with you, Folc and Port Tanger, adding on to our, and soon your, collection of innovative, and unique eyewear.

FOLC

We welcome Folc into our space for qualities we all cherish: creative, small production and sustainable.

Folc is designed in a small workshop in Barcelona’s PobleNou, a neighborhood full of great imaginative and innovative energy.

Marta Llinarès has been designing for global eyewear and accessories labels for over ten years before she launched her own collection in 2016.

She dedicates her talent to individuals attracted to high quality products with a story behind them,  and those who support independent brands.

The brand name “Folc” refers to Folk or Persons, to encompass all those people who love design and quality above a brand’s name.

The brand has a distinct style and personality inspired by the most glamorous era of Hollywood with bright pops of color. The delicate stacking of layers or etching to decrease volume in certain parts, creates frames that have subtle internal lines and a real structural feel that is both visually appealing and comfortable to wear.

Folc calls it “sculpting” because the final result is a piece with volume, playing with shapes and light to create a very special effect and warm perception. An acetate sculpture.

Much of the workmanship is done by hand followed by a manufacturing process done in northern Italy, one of the few places in the world with a tradition of handmade frames, where they respect health and safety standards established by the European Union.

The acetate used is made of cotton and wood dust sourced from Italy, thus reducing the environmental impact. This material has amazing qualities for creating incredible colors and high quality finishing on the glasses.

The sun lenses made by Zeiss offer the best clarity and UV protection against sunlight and glare.

Finally, to add to the uniqueness of the brand and to avoid overstocking and waste of material, each collection is produced in very limited batches.

We invite you to come and explore the selection of sublime pieces we made available for you. And If you don’t find what you are looking for, we can source it directly for you.

In the meantime, stay well and don’t forget to accessor-eyes your style.

PORT TANGER

Thanks to your trust, your curiosity and your taste for unique eyewear, Mira is now officially engaged with this newborn luxury eyewear, Port Tanger, and after flirting with Generation I, Generation II will launch our most exclusive selection of eyewear.

Founded by Bilal Fellah and his creative partner, Daniël Sumarna in 2019, the handcrafted eyewear line, which seeks inspiration from the Moroccan city of Tangier, has been spotted on everyone from ASAP Rocky to model Imaan Hammam…and now you.

The brand embodies and celebrates the dna and vibrant lifestyle of the Moroccan city that serves as a gateway to Africa and a portal to Europe, embodying a duality that runs throughout the brand.

Historically, Tangier has been a city of extremes. It’s a city that stands out by celebrating its international culture, a tireless resilience, and Mediterranean vibrance. These values are reflected in the brand, as Port Tanger’s frames stand out through evocative designs, premium quality, and luxurious flair.

Ethically handcrafted using sustainable cellulose extracted from cotton, the brand offers a variety of understated, elegant silhouettes; each design poetically reflecting the brand’s North African heritage.

All the brand’s diverse silhouettes are commonly adorned with a signature six-point design: a symbolic gesture toward the past, through the pillars of nostalgia, tradition, and craftsmanship, and to the present, with the principles of hope, design, and culture. With one eye on the past and the other on the present, Port Tanger seems destined for a sunny future…with you in it.

Come discover Generation II models including Kuky, made in collaboration with stylist Vanessa Reid. Kuky is a classic unisex aviator-style frame made contemporary by a sharp silhouette and a playful color palette inspired by the warmth and vibrant Andalucia.
